I woke up this morning with high hopes of landing a few wrasse. We finally had a break in the wind and with the sea calm I couldn't wait to get stuck in. My oh so faithful companion Ben was waiting eagerly at home and after a quick stop for Rame's finest pasties we were off.
With my last Patchinko 2 falling victim to being washed into a shallow rock and not coming free I was in need of a new surface lure to work its magic in the rough stuff. Now with it being January and money being more than a bit tight, I didn’t want to spend the usual £20. I would much rather spend a tenner on a lure that could do the same job. What would be even better would be a lure with the same profile, same weight but only £10.
This weekend I have mainly been thinking Perch! Unfortunately being on call all weekend has meant I’ve needed to be within ear shot of work. So I decided to go through my lure boxes and see what might nab me that illusive 2lb plus perch.
Now I’ve got my known perch killers but I’m looking for BIG perch killers. Now one that caught my eye was a 9.5cm Savage Gear 4play in fungus roach. Now this lure has proven itself to me on the pike and I was sure it would do the work for the perch. I was a little worried about water colour so picked up some bright orange ones to help them stand out. I also had some Daiwa Duck Fin’s in a nice and bright perch pattern. I was sure these would do the work.
Now with December being a complete wash out and more floods in a month than I have seen in my life, I found myself looking back over blogs and websites trying to better the little knowledge I already have.
I wasn't searching for anything in-particular but just browsing and hoping to stumble across a new site or some new information.
There were two things that got me thinking.
Since starting my blog in July I have been surprised how popular it has been. What started out a personal log to look back over has quickly turned into a love of mine. Now I know I might not be the greatest writer out there but as long as I am enjoying it I will continue. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all my readers, especially those that have taken the time to not only read my blog but comment and share it, thank you.
Now with my new found love I have decided to step things up a bit over 2013. I have updated my site to this shiny new one and I am going to try and update it more often.
