As a following on from my last blog, Saturday was the day Josh and I received one of prizes from the Cornish Lure Festival. A day on the water with a Andy Howell. Andy has owned a fishing boat for the last 25 years and has fished all over the South West. Andy's also a man after my own heart and preferring to fish with light gear.
As well as pleasure fishing Andy also runs 'Specialised Charters' a Warrior 165 called 'Obsession'. Andy takes out singles and pairs on fishing, photography and wildlife watching trips tailored around the clients needs.
With this blazing sun and calm seas the bass fishing has been far from great. In fact in the last two weeks I've seen two caught and only one by me. With an invite to the beach for a swim (yeah right, not got my bikini body in shape yet) I thought I'd go along with my rod and camera in tow with the hope of a fish or two. At worse I should at least get a photo of our glorious coastline.
Sunday saw me heading out to a local mark in search of some wrasse. I thought I had fished most marks around the peninsula but after a bit of a rock hop and a short climb I was faced with very nice looking ground. Shallow boulders and deeper weed fringed gulleys looked perfect and I was sure it was going to produce a wrasse or two. How have I not seen this before?
