With near storm conditions and not a clean bit of water in sight, Autumn is well and truely here along with the pike and perch season. With some new waters on the table and completely blown out seas, I may well be spending most of my time inland hunting down the toothy and stripy critters that inhabit our fresh water. Time to sort my kit ready for the next few months.
With a quick rummage through my highly organised tackle store it was apparent that I was lacking in a few pike/perch lures. Not only that I was in the market for a new reel to match up with my medium weight rod. Quick trip down to Lure Heaven to stock up.
As all of you that haven't been hiding under a rock are aware Sunday and Monday saw the Tackle and Gun show go into full swing. I was lucky enough to be there Sunday for the day having a wander around and helping out on the Lure Heaven UK stand. It was great to meet some new people and finally put some names to faces.
With the end of the salmon season rapidly approaching, this blog may be too little too late. I'm going to keep this short and pretty much straight to the point. After last weekends salmon hunt with Ben Church I had the chance to try out a new lure from Anglers Republic.
After carefully selecting some lures to target some flounder, I was keen to get stuck in and haul out some big girls. With an early finish from work on Thursday and Ben having the day off we were all set. A little worried that the persistent two days of rain we had might have pushed the fish out, we still headed down optimistic and confident. We headed to one of our usual spots and setup. I went for the more traditional jig head and Ben setup a dropshot rig.
