I’ve not been shy nor have I hidden the fact in the past few weeks I had lost my bass mojo. I’ve thrown all sorts at these slippery little buggers but not managed to hook one let alone land one.
This past week I’ve taken on everyone’s advise. Matt Newcombe simply said stop trying and I’ll have one as a bi-catch. Matt Jones said metals were the way but there was one persons advise that I did not take and that was Luke Fox’s who said “Give up!”.
Last Sunday saw me heading west with the hope of putting a good bend in my dad’s rod. Whilst we waited for the tide we hit the river for some LRF. I was using the new Graphiteleader Finezza Nouvo 76-842UL-T-AL. Now I have this rod a couple of weeks and I find it hard to fault. I was so impressed with the Corto ex I wondered if it was possible to make a rod much better but somehow they’ve done it. Not only does this rod feel more responsive it also feels lighter in the hand. We all had a number of fish with corkwings making up the majority of my catch.
I was lucky enough that at the age of 20 months old my parents decided to up sticks and move from the urban jungle that is Northampton. They decided for a life style change and settled in Cornwall on the Rame Peninsula. I’ve spent the last 26 years loving it. This place is my own little heaven. Every day I feel thankful for living here with this week being on exception. I have had the last week off work and with some sunshine booked I was going to make the most of it.
