At these time of year normally I would be packing away the fresh water gear and hitting the coast for the bass and wrasse. Having said that this year I have been really getting stuck into my pike fishing and throwing bigger baits. I know it means fishing heavier and you do lose a bit from the fight but you certainly don't lose the satisfaction from landing these stunning fish. I've been enjoying working the margins with swimbaits and have started to see a more consistent results. When I got a message from Matt Newcombe to test some of his prototype handmade lures I jumped at the chance.
I had plans today to pay a visit to one of my least favorite venues. I have fished the venue in question a number of times and never had that much luck. To be honest I hate the place. I managed to convince myself it was worth a shout for two main reasons. Firstly I have never fished it this time of year and secondly we've had a reasonable dry spell so the water should be fairly clear.
