With the bank holiday weekend done and dusted it's time to prepare for the onslaught at work and all the fun and games that usually follow a bank holiday. Having said that it's been a good weekend, a few fish caught and some great days out and about.
The weekend started just before first light on Saturday morning with a dawn raid for bass and pollock. Richard and Chris joined Ben and I and soon got stuck into some pollock. Unfortunately no bass were seen so come 8:30am it was time to leave and prep the kit for Sunday.
Sunday consisted of Ben and I spending time on the Fowey from upper stretches right down to the mouth at Fowey it's self. The hunt for the salmon didn't go well and with only one salmon seen all day. We left having landed only brown trout.
We decided to grab Simon Hall and drag him down to Fowey with us. Simon has just picked up his new Calzante (Graphiteleader Calzante EX 7'6" GOCAXS-762UL-T) and was keen to get a bend in it. The plan was to target some flounder and see what other species are lurking.
As much as I wanted to see Simon christen his rod I was still pleased to catch the first fish. Not a monster but target species all the same.
With bites few and far between you can imagine my delight when my tip whacked round and started thumping. I was sure it was another flounder only this time a little bigger. After a good little scrap I bagged myself another flounder.
It might have only weighed 12oz but it's still a PB for me. I couldn't have been happier. The rest of the night didn't go too great. I dropped a tiny flounder at my feet and no other fish came out, not even a pollock.
Monday night Simon wasn't allowed out to play so Ben and I thought we would do our best to wind him up. This mainly consisted of sending him pictures of Ben and I holding fish in a dodgy pose. He seemed to like them so much I thought I'd share them with you.
