With my move inland and spending more time on the rivers of Cornwall I was in the need of some waders that actually keep me dry. My old waders served me well but are as leaky as a pair of well used tights and are just no longer up for job.
After a few days of research and a couple of shout outs to friends etc. I finally made up my mind. So with waders order all I needed to do was wait to them to arrive. I would also need some new boots which in part helped me decide what waders to choose.
My final choice was the Sonik SK4 chest waders. I couldn't find a bad review and when considering the history behind the creators of Sonik I'm sure they will be quality and built by a decent supplier. They looked like just what I'm after.
Now they aren't the cheapest waders but they are not the most expensive by any means. With a RRP of £224.99 there are plenty of cheaper options out there but, and it's a big one, the majority of dealers are offering free SK4 wading boots with every pair sold.
First impressions are good and both seem good quality, materials seem tough yet comfortable and seams seem first class. Only time will tell how these will fair and I will be sure to let you know. The only criticism I have at the moment is the lack of studs on the boots but that is easily sorted.
Just recently I received a sample of some insoles, a solution to a problem I hadn't even considered. The insoles are an ingenious invention to increase comfort and safety whilst fishing, working or generally out and about.
Steel-Flex soles are a puncture resistant sole that not only adds safety but also increases comfort. The soles and conformed to support the arch of the foot and heel to offer support and more comfort. First impressions are they are well constructed and look like they will last but again only time will tell. I'l be sure to keep you updated. In the mean time if you want to read more information on these then check out Steel-Flex's website here.
